Anyone need an Uber???
On 9/15/2022, Uber confirmed their entire system was beached and all systems have been compromised. According to Sam Curry, a security engineer at Yuga Labs who corresponded with the person who claimed to be responsible for the breach “They pretty much have full access to Uber,” “This is a total compromise, from what it looks like.”
While the details are unknown at this point users should be very concerned about their personal data. We can all read the Uber Privacy Policy here, however in a nut shell users should be worried about:
DOA (Distinctive Online Attributes)
Name
Address
Phone number
Email addresses
Credit Card and payment methods
Location data
Contact information
For a full list of what Uber collects you can visit the section of their privacy policy here.
What can you do and what should you do???
XposURe LLC. recommends requesting your personal data from Uber to see what they collect which can be requested here. Based on what information we have, its safe to assume any or all of this data has been breached.
XposURe LLC would also highly recommend you initiate a credit Freeze and/or Fraud alert. This process seems complicated however takes just a few minutes. These can be removed easily by logging back in if you need to apply for any new of future credit.
Please see the attached FREE PDF File for instructions on Freezing your Credit!
