Twitter Users Exploited after Major Data Breach
“Over 5.4 million Twitter users have been targeted in a major breach of personal data.”
“The phone numbers and email addresses of millions of users, including celebrities, companies, and day-to-day account holders or those with desirable handles, were breached and are now being sold via a post on a dark web site called Breached Forums. A seller with the username ‘devil’ claims that “Celebrities, to Companies, randoms, OGs, etc.” are included in the data set and is asking for at least $30,000.”
Now please pay close attention to who was breached…can you spot the issue?...the issue here is that it didn’t matter how much notoriety a user had or how much money was in their account or how big (or small) the company was-the bottom line is that they were all hacked. No discrimination here, no specific targeting, and no level of security application mattered. Moreover, one could assume that celebrities and large companies have access to the most cutting-edge security software.
